Athletes will be required to take PE 101, and one course in the Principles of Physical Fitness curriculum. Unlike in the past, however, Emory athletes may complete two (2) credits in Physical Education in either:
A) one varsity sport repeated one time; or
B) two different varsity sports taken one time each for credit.
Enrollment in a varsity sport will be by written permission only from the appropriate coach. Participation in a varsity sport for HPED academic credit carries the same responsibilities for the student and coach as any other course in Emory College. A grade reflecting competent performance and expectations should be awarded. If a student discontinues participation, an "F" grade or "WU," or "WF" should be recorded.

PE 101 Health Education Exemption Test
A student has the option of taking an exemption test in Health Education. This test will be administered during the freshmen orientation week only. There is no Health Education exemption test administered during spring semester. If a student passes the Health Education exemption test, then he or she must enroll in another physical education course.
